Batak tribe is one of the largest ethnic group in Indonesia. tribes are categorized
as Batak Toba Batak, Batak Karo Batak Pakpak, Simalungun Batak, Batak Angkola,
and Batak Mandailing.
Batak is Austronesian- but it is not known when the ancestors of the Batak was first settled
in Tapanuli and East Sumatra. Language and archaeological evidence show that
the Austronesian-speaking people of Taiwan have been moving to the Philippines
and Indonesia about 2,500 years ago, that the young stone age (Neolithic).
Because until now there has been no artifacts of Neolithic (Stone Age Young) were found
in the area of Batak, it can be assumed that the ancestors migrated to the new Batak
of North Sumatra at the time of the metal.
